OTAGO FIRE TRAGEDY
POST-MORTEM DISCLOSURES PRIOR INJURIES RECEIVED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Friday A post-mortem examination of the victims of the Maerewhenua tragedy, Mr. Douglas Arthur Nolan, shearer, aged about 27, Mrs. Mabel Thelma Nolan, aged about 33, and their two children, disclosed that Mr. Nolan had received a wound of considerable size in the chest, causing extensive bleeding. Similar injuries had been received by the boy, aged seven, and by the baby, aged one. The woman's body was so badly incinerated that it was impossible to ascertain if any wound was received prior to death. Tho bodies of the victims were found by the police amid the ashes of their home. Lying near the charred remains of one of the adults was a .22 calibre rifle.
