PHOSPHATE TRADE
RECORD YEAR FORECAST NAURU AND OCEAN ISLANDS A record year in the shipment of phosphate rock from Nauru and Ocean Islands is forecast by Mr. A. F. Ellis, New Zealand representative on tho British Phosphate Commission, who returned to Auckland by the Wanganella yesterday after attending a meeting of the commission in Melbourne. The other two commissioners, Mr. A. S. Gaye (Great Britain) and Mr. C. McPherson (Australia), were present. "Conditions at the islands are quite satisfactory," Mr. Ellis said, "and according to present estimates we hope to ship 750,000 tons of phosphate this year. That will be a record for the islands."
