ROTARY CONFERENCE
FINAL SOCIAL FUNCTION
GARDEN PARTY IN REMUERA
The final social function in honour of the locates to the New Zealand Rotary District Conference was held yesterday afternoon, when, following a visit to the Ellerslie racecourse, a delightful garden party was given by Sir George and Lady Wilson at their home in Upland Road, Remuera. Chairs for the guests were placed in the garden under shady trees, and later the opportunity was taken by many to view the valuable collection of pictures owned by Sir George and Lady Wilson. To receive her guests Lady Wilson wore a graceful frock of leaf brown flat crepe with beige embroideries. The reception rooms were charmingly arranged with dahlias, gerberas and tiger lilies in rose tonings.
J n welcoming the guests, Sir George spoke of the great interest he felt in the Rotary movement and the pleasure it afforded Lady Wilson and himself to entertain the delegates. Lady Wilson extended a special welcome to the wives of the delegates. On behalf of the Auckland Rotary Club, the president, Mr. J. P. O'Connor, thanked Sir George and Lady Wilson for their hospitality, while the district governor, Dr. P. Stanley Foster, of Christchurch, spoke in similar terms on behalf of the visitors. Speaking for the visiting ladies, Mrs. C. J. Norwood, of Wellington, thanked Sir George and Lady Wilson and the wives of the members of the Auckland Rotary Club, who had done so much to entertain them. Mrs. J. P. O'Connor also spoke and referred particularly to the splendid work done by the secretary of the ladies' entertainment committee, Mrs. G. J. Park.
