;CLUBS OPPOSE STOPPAGE MEETING TO BE HELD (Received February 27, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 2f. Replying to the threat of the clubs Ito take legal action about the delaying of fixtures in connection with the effort to stop pool gambling, the secretary of the Football League said today there was a much easier method. The remedy lay with the clubs themseives. '"All that was necessary was for half the members to call a special meeting of the League, as provided by the rules, when any previous decision could be rescinded. The management committee of the League will meet on Sunday and Monday to discuss the whole business. The chairmen of the Leeds United, Stoke City and Manchester City Clubs have circularised all the League clubs calling a meeting at Leeds on March 2 to discuss the question of pools and football fixtures.
