RAILWAY LINE UNSAFE
PALMERSTON TO WCODVILLE DANGER OF FALLS OF ROCK [by telegraph OWN correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday Passengers between Palmerston North and Woodville are still being conveyed bv motor, as the railway line is not yet considered safe for passenger traffic. The fall of rock which took place yesterday has left the face of the hill in an unstable condition, and throughout to-day debris came down at intervals The transport of goods is permitted only in daylight and railway officials are uncertain how long it will take to restore the normal service. It is thought that on Sunday next, when this line is not in use, an attempt will be made to counteract the danger from falling rock by removing portions likely to be troublesome.
