GIRL GUIDE PARTY Prior to her marriage, Miss K. Carnachan was the guest of honour. at several parties, one of which was arranged ft>r her by th© committee of the Rotorua Girl Guides in St. Luke's Hall this week. A presentation was made of an afternoon tea service by Mrs. E. Robertson, sen., who had been the district commissioner and first president of the Girl Peace Scouts when the movement was inaugurated in Rotorua. Mrs. Robertson briefly outlined the movement, first as Peace Scouts, of which Miss Carnachan was secretary, and later when the Girl Guides were formed. During her residence in Rotorua Miss Carnachan has held the position as lieutenant, guide, ranger and district captain in turn. In making the presentation the speaker asked' Miss Carnachan to accept the good wishes of all present for her future happiness. An enjoyable programme, arranged by Miss Jean Worrall, was given, songs, recitations and relay races being presented by the guides. Last Wednesday afternoon, members of the Rotorua Methodist Ladies' Guild met at the home of Mrs. J. Rosser, Haupapa Street, to bid farewell to Mrs. A. Jackson, an old and valued member, who is to make her future home in Sydney. The drawing room was tastefully decorated with summer blooms, and on arrival the guests were received by the president, Mrs. F. Bateup, and the hostess, Mrs. Rosser. Novelty competitions interspersed with pianoforte solos by Miss 11. Leech, were greatly enjoyed. At tho conclusion of afternoon tea, the ltev. F. Bateup, on behalf of the guild, presented Mrs. Jackson with a leather handbag as a mark of esteem from the members. Lady Braddon, of Australia, is paying a visit to Rotorua. Mrs. Oswald Eyre, of Auckland, ,is visiting her daughter, Mrs. E. la Trobe Hill, Hinemoa Street. Mrs. E. E. Clarke and Miss Doris Bradford, of Melbourne, who have been making an extended visit to Rotorua, left this week on their return home. Mrs. F. C. Bunyard, Amohia Street, has returned from a brief visit to Auckland, where she was the guest of her sister, Mrs. G. Truscott, of Epsom. Mrs. C. Trough ton Clark, Fenton Street, has returned from a week's visit to Auckland.

Mrs. Douglas Sheaf and family have returned from a holiday spont at Ohope Beach. Miss Norma Joll has returned from a visit to Ohope Beach. Mrs. Alexander, of Auckland, who has been visiting Rotorua, has left for Mount Maunganui, where she will bo the guest of her daughter, ' Mrs. Dumbleton. Mrs. J. Roberts has returned from a holiday at Mount Maunganui.
