TROTTING AT EPSOM

FEBRUARY MEETING OPENS FROCKS ON THE LAWN VARIETY AND. COLOUR Ideal weather prevailed on Saturday for the first day of the Auckland Trotting Club's February meeting at Alexandra Park, Epsom. The sun shone brightly all day and was tempered by a cool breeze. As a result of the pleasant conditions the frocking was most attractive. Smart printed silk frocks, with plain light-weight coats and matching hats, were the popular choice, while a few full-length gowns of georgette or lace lent variety to the scene. Tailored suits of pastel linen tweed, with dark taffeta blouses, were attractive and trim. Tunic frocks, which are so fashionable this season, also had many adherents. Navy and white still hold their own as the most fashionable colour combination, black and white and pink in its varying shades, also being worn extensively. Hats were generally wide-brinimed and lowcrowned and festively trimmed with flowers and matching ribbons.
