Time, 2m 9 4-ss. | NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK r CANDIDATES FOR TE RAPA f CLESSAMOR AN IMPROVER t [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday Several horses from New Plymouth will be racing at Te Rapa next weekend and will probably go on to the To Aroha meeting, which follows. The work this morning was mainly of the useful order. Refresher worked freely over a couple of circuits on the plough. He has come through his recent strenuous racing splendidly and looks full of life. In spite of the indifferent race that he ran on the second day at Hawera, Tahurangi looked bright and well when out doing pace work. He has raced fairly consistently lately and is to fulfil his engagement in the Storey Memorial Handicap at Te Rapa. Prince Reno, who has formerly been trained at Stratford, has been acquired by a patron of J. O'Neill's stable and was out doing easy exercise. He is to race on the flat at Opunake, but it is probable that he will be tried as a jumper later on. Easy tasks were allotted Dombey and Clessamor. Both, especially Clessamor, look well. Recent racing appears to have improved Clessamor and he should not be without prospects in hack events at Te Rapa. The three-year-old filly Bonny Glow will not race again this season, and her place in.W. Mantle's team has been taken by the two-year-old filly Dawn Star. The latter, who is by Lord Warden from Gold Dawn, greatly resembles her dam. She is backward but looks a likely sort. Aussie Ra has been turned out in the paddock and will not race again this season. There is nothing amiss with him, but R. Johnson considered that he needed a rest. Johnson has recommissioned Ngatiraliiri, who developed soreness early last month. He has thrown off that trouble, but is at present suffering from a slight cold. The other members of Johnson's team, Davistock, Courtega and Glenvane, were allotted easy pace work on the plough. Courtega and Glenvane have been nominated at Opunake. H. Dulieu's team was let off with easy work. Ho will be taking Grateful and Red Sand to To Rapa. The horses are in good order and should be capable of racing prominently. TIME IMPROVEMENTS SUBSTANTIAL MARGINS Fast times were a feature of the opening of the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday and the margins were substantial in several of the classes. Bismuth, 16 4-ss, showed most improvement among the pacers and Autumn Lou, 16 2-ss, among the trotters. Details of the improvements are as follows; — ONE MILE AND A-QUARTER Hdcp. Time Imp.
