HAWKE'S BAY POSITION [by temcorapii—OWN correspondent) HASTINGS. Suturday " Owing to a shortage of teachers in the larger schools, it will be necessary to take away extra assistants from some of the smaller schools in the Hawko's Bay Education Board's district," said the chairman of the board, Mr. G. A Maddison, Unfortunately, he added, owing to tho readmission of five-year-olds and the consequent sad scarcity of teachers, the board would' bo reluctantly compelled to withdraw extra assistant teachers from smaller schools to make up the stalfs at larger schools. So far as could bo seen, it was, going to be a particularly heavy year for teachers on account of tho increase in the size of school rolls and the increase ii? classes.
