DEAF MAN'S RADIO

NEIGHBOURS ANNOYED "BLARE NIGHT AND DAY" THREATENING BEHAVIOUR As a result of his action in walking into tho street, wearing only a pai*of trousers and a pair of shoes, and shouting to his neighbours that he was "as fit as a fiddle and would take anyone on, at any time and anywhere," a resident of Epsom, aged 51, appeared in the Police Court yesterday to answer a charge of threatening behaviour. The defendant, for whom Mr. Stevens appeared, pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Fox said defendant lived alone. On the day when ho acted so strangely ho had taken a little too much liquor. His character had boon good in the past, but his neighbours would bo pleased if ho took a long trip away, mainly owing to the fact that he was deaf and owned a powerful 12valve radio set, which ho operated night and day. This caused ' considerable annoyance to his neighbours. Mr. Stevens asked in view of the man's previous good record, that tho matter bo dealt with as a trivial case. Defendant intended to dispose of his powerful radio set and get a smaller one. There would be no further trouble in this respect. " The trouble seems to have originated by hi.-- being a selfish man, allowing his radio to blare away night and day, annoying his neighbours," said tho magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson. Defendant was convicted and ordered to conic up for sentence if called upon in six months.
