THE TRENTHAM TRACK
STING OUT OF GROUND CUDDLE'S FINE CONDITION MIGHT GOES VERY WELL [BY TEIiKG It A I'H —OWN CO It It KS I'ON 1) KNT] W E rjj I NT. TON, Tliu rsdn y The recent rain has put the tracks at Trentham in first-class order for galloping and the horses were aide to hit out freely on the trial grass this morning. The work is still confined to the local stables. Red Sun and Sutiee galloped a mile and Sunee finished in front in 1.42 J. Both went well and Red Sun was giving away a fair amount of weight. They are very fit horses. Brabant was held back to Te I'angituniau over hall-a-mile in 50s. lirabant worked well. Acceptable broke away a couple of lengths ahead of After Money at the live furlongs. Although Acceptable uas not kicked out lie is a free galloper and After Money impressed by the way she gathered him in in the straight and finished under a pull. The time was 1.3 i. Alter Money has improved a lot with recent racing. Acceptable is also an improved horse, and he is a likely light-weight in the Telegraph Handicap, in which lie will he ridden by H. N. W i logins. Darecourt was going much better than Night lass at the end of six in 1.18 1-5, Shy treating Revival similarly in I.lß*. Shy carried a welterweight and worked well. It lias not been decided in which of his engagements he will start. McTavish was to ride him in the hack sprint, but he may not bo able to do the weight Might ran away from Princess Doreeu at the end of six in 1.16 J. Might worked really well. He raced patchilv during the holidays, but appears to bo hitting out much better with the sting out of the going. Princess Doreeu needs a lot of galloping and she is tho sort likely to upset calculations again any time. Cuddle was given a couple of rounds of good pacing and then ran home tho hist half in 50s. She never looked or worked better. No riding engagement has been mado for her, nor is likely to be made until the eve of the race. Deficit shaped very nicely in a three furlongs sprint with Cricket. Deficit did not race at tho New Year and the respite since Manawatu lias benefited him. Vineo, Boomerang and Hine Ra, who were not asked to go fast, all look well after their holiday racing. Mr. H. W. Moss' gelding Prostration was very sore after his racing at the Wairarapa New Year meeting and he will require a s]>ell beforo being seen out again.
