OPEN EIGHT-OAR RACE EVENT AT HAMILTON Permission to include an open nonclass eight-oar race for a. trophy on its programme for January 29 was granted to the Hamilton Regatta Club by the executive of the Auckland Rowing Association at its meeting last night, Mr. C. G. Herdman presided. was decided to call for nominations from clubs for individual members to form a composite eight, to represent Auckland at the annual interprovincial eights contest, and also to solicit alternative nominations for a club eight. The stipulation was made that in either case members should pay their own expenses. On the motion of Mr. D. G-. Stotter, it was decided to congratulate the Waitemata Bonting Club on its enterprise in purchasing an eight-oar best and best racing boat from Mr. G. Towns, of Sydney. In seconding the motion, the chairman, Mr. C. G. Herdman, said that he hoped that other clubs would not be long in following the Waitemata Club's example. Congratulations were extended to the Whakatane Rowing Club on its affiliation with the Auckland Rowing Association. PRESIDENT'S AT HOME NORTH SHORE CLUB'S FUNCTION The chief attraction for rowing supporters to-morrow afternoon will be the president's At Home at North Shore. During the afternoon trial fours for Mr. w. Bowler's trophies will be rowed. Trial fours will also be rowed by the St. George's Club, the trophies at stake being the Coates Cup and caps. Members of the West End Club will contest the Clark Shield, and the Waitemata Boating Club will hold races for Mr. W. Denison's trophies. The Auckland Rowing Club will hold trial fours for the Clarke Memorial Shield.
