TE PUKE INTERESTS

A pleasant gathering took place in the Paengaroa Hall, To Puke, when Miss Una Black, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Black, of Paengaroa, whose marriage takes place shortly, was given a kitchen evening by members of the women's institute, Country Golf Club and residents of the district. Mrs. Hickson, on behalf of the goll' club, presented Miss Black with a handsome vase, and Mrs. McDowell, president of the women's institute, made a presentation of numerous gifts from members of tlio institute. Several musical items and plays were enjoyed. A plain and fancy dress dance was held in the Mangatoi Hall, To Puke. Many old-time dances were included in the programme. Prizes were awarded as follows; —Best costumes, Miss L. Burt (Prince Charming), and Mr. E. Petersen (clown); most original costumes, Miss Gladys Mutton and Miss 0. Douglas (grandpa and grandma), and Mr. B. Gower (tramp).
