SURF LIFE-SAVING
EASTERN UNITED CLUB It is regretted that the small active membership has prevented ■ adequate patrols from being in attendance as regularly as could be desired, states the teport presented at tho annual meeting of .the. Eastern United Surf Life-Saving Club. Nevertheless on five occasions during the past year assistance was rendered by patrolmen. The past season has been the most succesnful in tho history of the club.t continues the report. In all fields of work increased interest has been shown, the publicity given to tho movement having been the means of getting greater financial support. In competition work the club enhanced its reputation by winning tho national march past championship, winning their heat and finishing fourth in the final of» tho four-man event. , In' tho provincial championships the team gained third placo in tho Speedo Shield contest and third in the heltmea'f" championship. ..Visits were paid to the.-'Mil-ford Girls' and Piha Clubs and an educational visit was made to Orewa at the request of the association. The balance-sheet showed a -email credit balance, assets of t'*io and no liabilities. Officers were elected as follows Patron, Mr. S. Mullcngef; president, Mr. E. Gardner; selectors, Messrs. A. Gardner, L. Bull, D. Grieve; delegate to the Royal Life-Saving Society. Mr. 0. Jones; delegate to the Surf Lifo-Saving Association. Mr. J. Mills.
