NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK LADY KYRA AND CHIKARA [by telegbaph OWN correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday The tracks at New Plymouth were in excellent order this morning, and many horses with engagements at Waverley and Trentham were galloped. The best efforts were those of Lady Kyra, Chikara and Silk Sox. All the gallops took place on the trial grass, ! which was fast after three or four days' fine weather. Headmistress and Refresher were associated over six furlongs in 1.175, both moving well. Refresher figures in the Brewer Handicap and. the cup at Waverley, and so far no decision has been reached as to which will be his mission, but he may be found contesting the cup. Headmistress has made a good deal of progress lately, and her recent track-work suggests, that she will not be without prospects. Tahurangi hit out freely over a couple of rounds of pace-work on the plough. He has not been galloped since his good mile last Thursday, but he does not require a great deal of fast work. He looks in great order. Golden Rill was let off with easy pace-work. She is fit and should perform creditably in the maiden, : although the field is rather strong. Silk Sox shaped well over six furlongs in 1.17 2-5, coming home .in good style. R. Johnson's team, Davistoek, Glenvaue. Aussie Ra and Courtega, who returned from Masterton during the week-end did easy tasks. They have come through their racing in good -style. They are not engaged on Labour Day, but may do the Rangitikei and Waikato meetings Red Fox and Bonny Glow were on terms at the close of five furlongs in 1.4.}, the last four in 52a. This was a fair effort for hacks, and Bonny Glow's appearance at Waverley will be 1 watched with interest. Red Fox looks well, although he is not galloping quite as well as he was a few weeks.ago. 1 Gay Poto, who has built up well since joining J. O'Neill's stable, did steady pace-work on the plough. Ho is developing into a fine-looking horse. The best gallop of .the 'morning was that of Lady Kyra and' Chikara, who ran five furlongs in 1.2 2-5. The first two occupied 25 2-5s and the last three 375. Lady Kyra. was going slightly the better at the finish; stf though it was an attractive effort on the part of both horses. Chikara is to race at Trentham t where he will be ridden by H. N. Wiggins. If present intentions are carried out, Fersen will be taken to Riccarton after Trentham and will raoe at the_ Banks Peninsula meeting before fulfilling his engagement in the New Zealand Cup.
