TEAM FOR TRENTHAM FAST TIMES RECORDED RONA BAY, DOLLAR PRINCE [by telegraph OWN correspondent] CHRISTCHUKCH, Tuesday Fast times wero again recorded at Riccarton to-day. Most of the horses to race at Trentham were out, exceptions being Variant and Hostis, who left for tho north to-night. On the plough, Fracas, Wild Chas<}, 'Paper Slipper and Slasher were restricted to strong work. They also were shipped north to-night. Tail Light and Rival Shot were also worked on the plough, while Sky Pilot, with Girl Guide as a mate, ran seven furlongs in--1.32 2-5. Astraea sprinted three furlongs in 38s. » . On the grass, Dollar Princo strode out well over a mile in 1.43 2-5, the first half-mile in 51s. Ho looks well after his race at Washdyke. Greek Shepherd was going better than Sky Rover at the end of six furlongs in 1.16 1-5, the second three in 38 l-ss. Tout lo Monde had a slight advantage over Gay Crest at the end of seven furlongs in 1.29 2-5. Dover Patrol and' Pelmet lan half a mile in 495, tho latter giving an impressive display. Rona Bay attracted attention by galloping six furlongs in 1.15. She lias taken a long time to recover from the effects of a fall at Trentham in July, but is now doing well. On tho course proper, under the regulation allowing a horse to gallop on the outside of the course proper ••on payment of a special fee, Yintage, ridTlen by G. Humphries, covered a mile in 1.42 4-5, tho second half in 525. He moved very freely and was not asked to show his best. This was the third recent gallop given Vintage on the course proper and he will be in better order at Trentham than generally considered. Grey Honour and Fair Weather were also galloped on the course, their task over five furlongs taking 1.2 1-5, the last four in 49 3-ss. GALLOPS AT HASTINGS PASSION FRUIT IMPRESSES [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] HASTINGS, Tuesday With Hastings horses engaged at the Waipawa and Wellington meetings the tracks this morning were kept busy. Sunny Maid is very fit and impresses as being a winner in the very near future. She was given pace-work, to come home the last two furlongs in 245. Speed was. doing it very easily to register 1.19 for six furlongs, and is particularly well. Journet and Dusky Crown were given a working gallop over a'round, but the former was held back hard. He is one of the fittest hurdles horses in the district. Slippery looks a picture after his double victory at Opaki.tHe was not gallojjed, but showed great dash in pacework. Shu, who will race at Trentham, was sent over five furlongs with Hest, and in spite of the fact that ho was eased over the last furlong recorded 1.35. Passion Fruit, carrying 9st., traversed a round in 1.40, to pick up and defeat Hunting Cat over the last six furlongs in 1.19. From a time point of view the gallop was ordinary, but, Passion Fruit impressed and ho is in fine order for the Wainui Handicap at Trentham on Saturday. . • ' • Salon, who came back from Avondale feeling the effects of the two races ho had tlicre, is just beginning to recover, and although he looked better, his chances at Trentham are not fancied. Nevertheless, ho is a better horse on the day than ,on the tracks. Royal Feast and Hard Times impressed by galloping i*df a mile in 50s, the first two in 245. Royal Feast finished with something in hand and he is fancied for his race at Hastings next Monday.' ... The best effort was that of Boughal, who ran home from the six furlongs post in I.lß*, tho.last five in 1.6 J. Curlew and Folly's Choice ran once round in 2.12. Cnrshalton and Holmeiell did a similar task in 2.9. I'lit Acre, who is now in Tutchen's stablp, was on tonus with Loo Colossus lit tho finish of five furlongs in 1.8. Both shaped U< King Rov recorded 1.9 for five furlongs It 'has not yet been decided whether he will go to Riccarton tor the New Zoaland Cup. Star Artist and Light Comedy, who will probably leave for Wellington on Thursday, were on terms at the close of six furlongs in 1.25. L'Allegro pleased by the manner in which he accounted for Taniwharan over seven furlongs in 1.36. Little Leslie,, at the end of six furlongs, was practically on terms with La Fcmme Noire, who joined in at tho five furlongs post, in 1.21 1-5, tho last five in 1.7. Silver Brier, who went off some three lengths behind Little Leslie, was a length and a-half behind the pair at the finish. Sweet Lap and Polly Douglas clocked 1.7 1-5 for fivo furlongs, Dust XJp and Gold Jubilee taking 1.9. Diacquedoon ran half a milo in 565. Orac worked on tho plough, being timed to run fivo furlongs in 1.9. lliuminagh jumped two hurdles along the back in satisfactory style.
