CIVIC THEATRE One of tlie most remarkable films ever produced, " She," the screen version of tho Rider Haggard story, continues to delight Civic Theatre audiences. "She" (Helen Galmgan) is the ruler ot of n beautiful mystical kingdom of Kor. She is deathless for she has stood in the Flame of Life that conquers mortality and for .500 years tho great queen has awaited tho" reincarnation of her dead lover. REGENT THEATRE The screen version of the most poignant and dramatic story in the fir-ti°n of the last century, " Les Miserables, is tho principal attraction on tins week's programme at tho Regent Theatre. While serving as a mirror ot tho hardships of tho French galleyslaves, tho film introduces an element of romance and an occasional glimpse of comedy, but there is no serious attempt to' spare feelings. Tho principals are Charles Laughton, Fredric March and Sir Cedric Hardwicke. ST. JAMES' THEATRE With all tho epic sweep of " Hell Divers," and with an even more human story, " West. Point of the Air. a thrilling aviation drama, is the mam film on the current programme at St. James' Theatre. A particularly hno cast of players interprets tho principal roles Wallace Berry being superb as an old flying instructor. Romantic interest is provided bv Maureen O'Sullivan and Robert Young. PLAZA THEATRE In every way a worthy successor to tlie splendid " One Night of Love, the new Grace Moore film, " Love. Mo Forever," is attracting large audiences to tho Plaza Theatre. Although in its second week, its popularity shows no signs of waning. Miss Moore's glorious soprano voice is heard in a number of popular selections while a screen newcomer, Michael Bartlett, a distinguished tenor from the Metropolitan Opera, plays opposite to hor and also sings a number of old and new favourites. MAJESTIC THEATRE Generally regarded as one of tho finest musical films seen locally in the last few years, the gay and tuneful "Naughty Marietta" is enjoying . a short return season at the Majestic Theatre. That delightful soprano, Jeanette Macdonald, has the title role, while tho main male part is taken by Nelson Eddy, a capable tenor and a newcomer to pictures. A bright supporting programme includes a Laurel and Hardy comedy and another of tho popular Oddities.

STRAND THEATRE Now in the second week of its Auckland season, the thrillinc English spy drama, " The 39 Steps," continues to prove popular with patrons of tho Strand Theatre. Adapted from s the immensely-popular novel of the same name by John Buchan, tho story contains many thrills and a pleasing romance. Robert Donat, of " The Count of Monte Cristo." has the principal part, the beautiful Madeleine Carroll playing opposite to him. j NATIONAL AND PRINCE EDWARD One of the most brilliant screen comedies to have come from Hollywood in Yecent years " The Thin Man," is being shown at the National and Prince Edward Theatres, after enjoying extended seasons in tho main centres in the Dominion. The leading roles are taken by those two popular figures, Myrna Loy and William Powell, wnile there is a capable supporting cast. STATE THEATRE Produced to glorify the nursing profession. the outstanding hospital drama, " The White Parade," will head the new programme commencing to-day at the State Theatre. Loretta Young lias the leading role. The second picture is " Son of a Sailor," with Joe E. Brown. LONDON CINEMA The main attraction on tho new programme at tho London Cinema is " Hot Saturday," an hilarious comedy drama. ! Also being shown is the mystery film, I " Tho Secret of,Madame Blanche." CRYSTAL PALACE THEATRE Tho thrilling naval drama "Brown on Resolution" heads tho new programme at the Crystal Palace Theatre. The second film is "Our Littlo Girl," with Shirley Temple. STAR CINEMA "The Last Gentleman" and "Miss Fane's Baby is Stolen" will be shown for the last time at the Star Cinema to-night. Tbe new programme commencing to-morrow comprises "Operator 13" and "Girl Without a Room." BRITANNIA THEATRE Colin Clive and Virginia Bruco arc tho principals in "Jane Eyre," the popular Charlotte Bronto story, which will be screened at tbe Britannia Theatre to-night. "Rumba" also is being shown. TUDOR CINEMA Jan Kiepura, of "Tell Mo To-night." makes a further screen appearance in "My Heart is Calling," tho new film at tho Tudor Cinema.
