SUM OP £9O SECURED THEFT FROM GROCERY STORE ENTRY THROUGH HOUSE « Banknotes to the vnltio of £9O were stolon from tho grocery store of G. H. Townsend, at the corner of Dominion and King's Roads, Mount Roskill, between six o'clock and 10.30 last night. Mr. and Mrs. Townsend, whoso house is in King's Road adjoining the shop, were out at tho time. When they returned home at 10.30 they were unable to enter their house as tho door had been latched from tho inside by the thief. Mr. Townsend found that the intruder had forced open a window of tho wash-house and he also had to enter by this means. The money was taken from tho cash register in "the shop. There were two £5 notes, the remainder being single notes. There was nothing to indicate that tho thief had interfered with tho stock and he had not searched tho various rooms where there were other sums of money. Once inside the house there was no difficulty in entering tho shop as the connecting doors wcro not locked. Mr. Townsend communicated with two detectives in tho neighbourhood and they commenced an immediate investigation.
