GOOD TIMES RECORDED * SOLID MILE BY BAROSCOPE ARMACOURT SPRINTS FAST BY ARCHER Although tho weather was cold and there was a very heavy shower shortly before tho breakfast interval, conditions were otherwiso favourable for training operations at Kllerslie yesterday and some smart gallops wero roeorded. Tho going was good on tho No. 1 grass and horses to record solid efforts woro Psychologist, Baroscope, Sir Abb, Etcetera, Professional, Red Flame. Racing Lady and Armacourt. Etcetera (McTavish) was slightly in front of Professional (Murray) and Red Flame (Tremain) at tho conclusion of a smartly-run half-mile in <l9 3-ss. Etcetera did his work nicely and tho efforts of the others were also satisfactory, as they were not ridden right out.

Racing Lady dashed over four furlongs in 49 2-ss. She has been sprinting nicely and is a speedy beginner who should bo capable of showing up prominently in the minor class at Paeroa. Rercpai (Dtilicu) ran an easy halfmilo with Zane Grey (Stone) in 53 4-ss. Tybalt (McCnrdy) also worked usefully, striding over a round without being extended at any stago. Gay Broney Coming otf Well Gay Broney (Gilchrist), after running the first three in 40 I-ss, completed six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. He is coming on nicely and is hitting out more freoly than ho was last season, when he gavo J'. D. Kemp considerable trouble to keep him going. Gay Broney is one of tho most reliable handicap horses in Auckland when lie is fit.

Pasha (Murray) and I?oval Appellant (Simpson) were not bustled to run four furlongs in 53 4-58. Gay Defence (Wiggins) was travelling in good style at the end of_ five furlongs, running the last four in 52 3-ss. He took no harm from his race at Avondale, where he failed to do quite as well as expected. Psychologist (Gilchrist) went away from a good move-up to run the best six furlongs of the morning in 1.16 3-5. He ran unplaced in his only start at Avondale, but tho outing evidently did not hurt him.

Royal Broney placed six furlongs behind in 1.25 1-5, going comfortably throughout. Imamint sprinted half a mile during a heavy shower and was not timed, although she appeared to be revelling in her work. She is in excellent trim after her Avondale racing and is to leave, for Paeroa to-day. Solid Mile by Sir Abb

Sir Abb (Wiggins) went a solid mile in 1.45 3-5, King Mestor (Sargent) joining him at tho six furlongs and Prince Abb (Clifford. 1 at the three. The last six furlongs were run in 1.18 4-5 and the last three in 38 4-os. They were together at the finish and Sir Abb worked solidly. Valmint (Murray), after covering the first three in 40 3-ss, got to the end of six furlongs in 1.21 4-5. He has made a good recovery from the kick he received at the Pakuranga meeting and is again going along nicely in his work. Kiltowyn (Murray) and Green Patch were associated over a round in 1.58 4-5, running the last half-milo in 53 3-ss. They were not doing their best and Kiltowvn was eager to: go, fast, early. He looks all the better for his race in the Avondale Cup. Baroscope galloped the last mile of a rouncl in 1.45 1-5, the best of tho morning over the distance. He ran the first ha'f in 53 3-5s and the last half in 51 3-5s being kept up to his work most of the way. Lady Diana and Gemland joined Baroscope at the half-mile and thoy led him homo in 50s, both going n cely. Bust Half-Mile of Morning Arinaoourt (Bentley) sprinted four furlongs in 495, the best half of the morning'. Tho three-yoar-old filly gallops well in private, but her form with the colours up has been disappointing. She is to compete at Paeroa to-morrow and is speedy enough to show up in the novice class. Marjory Daw defeated Vanners ever three furlpngs in 37 3-ss. Marjory Daw appears have sharpened up by her race at Avondale and may go. on improving in the next month or two. On the tan Catoma covered a round in 1.59 3-5. This track and the sand were both used for nace work and among those to perform serviceable tasks were Kelly, Rereatu, On Parade, Black Marlin and Ringshot. Sir Romeo (Burgess) was schooled over four hurdles and gave a very satisfactory display. He has improved considerably in condition since being taken in hand by Mr. W. M. Taylor and shows sufficient promise as a jumper to be worth persevering with. Lord Val (Burgess) was sent over four hurdles, but ho failed to impress. He landed very awkwardly over the first, hit the third and jumped the other two carefully. Lord Val requires experience to give him confidence. Parkhurst (Craddock) jumped the steopiechase fences cn the flat in good style. Ballinger, and also for her sire, the Melbourne and New Zealand Cup winner Nightrnarch. She is a brown filly from tho Sunny Lako mare Matata, the dam also of JJoltl Brigand, who ran third in the last Dunedin Cup, and the late Mr. Ballinger bought her for 70 guineas at tho 1934 yearling sales. She raced all through last season for a number of minor places, and, as she has now thickened out, she may mature into a good staying sort of filly.
