PAEROA MEETING

the taumarunui cup. IMAMINT LIKELY l-AVOURITE TWO SCRATCHING*; POSTED Considerable interest is being centred in tho opening of tho Taumarunui Racing Club's meeting at Pacroa to-mor-row. Tho remodelled course, which will be used for tho first time, is in good order, and although tho fields in some instances are likely to bo small the racing should prove interesting, especially tho jumping events. The field for tho Taumarunui Cup has been weakened by the defection of Sir Abb and Gay Marigold, who were withdrawn at 2.5 p.m. yesterday. The scratching of Gay Marigold leaves Gay Rose topweight with 7.10 and she may niako a forward showing, although her form at Avondalo was below her best. It is probable that Imamint will bo a good favourite, far she is all the better for her racing at Avondalo and her prospects appear very rosy. The best of tho others may be Baroscope, w ho worked well at Kllerslie yesterday. Form suggests Royal Secret and British Columbia as the best of those in the Flying Handicap, and they will carry strong support. The likeliest oi the others may bo Sinking Fund and Namakia, who will be racing for the first time this season. Additional riding engagements are: jsj_ R. McKeiizie. —Dark Shadow, Bellkvrian. . It Gladding.—La FOmme Noir. C. L. Goulsbro.— Whirling, Jan Ridd.
