WAGES RESTORATION
Sir, —" Colonist for 54 Years " is quite right in what he says about the civil servants' wages restoration. Recently they received a 5 per cent rise and back pay, and house rents reduced. Now a further rise of per cent. Still they are not satisfied. If they were struggling farmers like myself, they would know what it is to be hard-up, with a small dairying income, and having to meet interest, rates, manure and living ex-penses. They have little to growl about, their " nests have been feathered " with the higher pay and rents reduced. Only a Cow Cocky.
