BOYS FOR FARMS

Sir, —The proposal to establish a farm training centre is due to the fact that in the opinion of members of the Auckland Boys' Employment Committee, the existing facilities for agricultural training are not capable or fully meeting the position. From the experience gained over a number of years, it is evident that many boys are ineligible, unsuited or disinclined to attend post-primary schools of the type available here, and a farm centre in which the theoretical side will form a very minor part, and actual farming and kindred work, the bulk, has much to recommend it. Your correspondent " Interested," with ample justification, admires the work of the two local schools, but he is certainly not in touch with the need or present-day conditions if he considers that nothing more could be desired. N. G. Gribbl£.
