DANGER ON GRAFTON BRIDGE
Sir, —I see that the Auckland Cit; Council has decided to enforce the by law (No. 363), which enacts that pedes trians proceeding from Symonds Stree across the bridge must use the south ern (or right hand) footpath, althoug' in every other street and on every othe footpath in Auckland they are in structed to keep to the left. The rate payers are to be put to the expens of a traffic officer on duty there t enforce obedience to it. The very fac that it can only secure compliance wit' this by-law by compulsion shows hoi little it is desired by the public, an hew much more agreeable to the user of the bridge it would be if it wer cancelled instead of being enforced. .J. Thornf.S.
