BACKBLOCK SCHOLARS
EDUCATIONAL TOUR Six schoolchildren visited Wellington last week to explore the capital city, the visit being organised by teachers of the Education Department's Correspondence School, of which the children are pupils, owing to the inao- ■ cessibility of their country homes. - Ono of the girls (the party comprised three boys and three girls) has actually matriculated without ever having attended school. Living on a farm many miles north of Auckland she commenced her studies through the Correspond! nee.; School in 1G22, and matriculated last# year. A boy in the party, whose home" is 50 miles north of Gisborne, apart from an occasional visit to that town and to Napier, has had no previous experience of city life.
