LABOUR PLAN CONDEMNED DAIRY FARMERS* ATTITUDE [by telegp.afh—press association] HASTI2CGS. Tuesday Trenchant criticism was heard at a large meeting of shareholders of the Heretaunga Dairy Company of the proposal to guarantee prices for dairy produce, as enunciated by the Labour Party. The chairman, Mr. D. G. Begley, said he considered the proposals, were impractical of application, wouls not stand investigation. It would be a system of inflation that would have a disastrous effect on the primary producer. Mr. Begley expressed the hope that dairy farmers would not be swayed by "ridiculous suggestions for lifting prices to fantastic levels,'' which would place an intolerable burden on the community. A motion endorsing Mr. Begley's action in opposing guaranteed prices at the recent conference of the National Dairy Association, held at Palmerston North, was carried unanimously.
