•' - . ' i'V . " v.. \ , - ■ DISPUTE OVER PROFITS TE AROHA WANTS SHARE [BY TELEGTUrn —OWN ookkespondent] TE AROHA. Friday Objection to the proposed distribution of the profits of the recent Te Aroba Band contest, approximately £9O, was expressed by members of the contest, committee at its meeting last evening. The secretary, Mr. N. Gibbs, said the customary practice of the South Auckland Bands' Union was t.o retain one-third of the profits and distribute the other two-thirds among competing bands upon a basis proportionate to the distance individual bands travelled to the contest. A motion agreeing to this course was about to be put, when the meeting was informed that the South Auckland Union had already resolved that the Te Aroha Band should not share in the proposed distribution. Mr. Gibbs stated that a communication he had received from the union confirmed this "This is most, unfair," said a member. "We do all the work necessary to the successful outcome of the contest, and yet our own band gets nothing." "If we hand the money over, we will never see it again, so I think we had tetter deduct our share before we hand it over," said another member. It was finally decided to deduct £4 and remit the balance to the South Auckland Union.
