WINTER EXHIBITION

MANY CHILDREN ATTEND CROWDS IN THE EVENING SHOW CONCLUDES TO-DAY Children formed n large proportion of the visitors to the Auckland Winter Exhibition yesterday, and between 0000 and 4000 young people in the charge of teachers attended in the afternoon. A special train from Kaukapaknpa brought about 300 school children in the morning and left in tho late afternoon. The show will close to-day. Interest has been well maintained and the gate receipts yesterday exceeded thoso for the corresponding day last year. In the evening the crowd was composed mainly of adults, several thousand late shoppers taking a keen interest in the exhibits. As would be expected, business at the numerous stalls and sideshows was rather quiet in the early part of tho day, but in tho evening occupiers of "Tin-pan Alley" wore kept extremely busy, and did tho best business to date at the exhibition. "Although we have picked up tonight, business has been very* disappointing this year," said one of the sideshow owners last night. In direct contrast to this is the excellent business being done at tho trade and commercial stalls.

During the evening large, nunibers of people watched concerts by the Highland and National Dancing Society and the St. Andrew's Pii>e Band. Interesting items were also given by the Home Economic Society and pupils of Miss Beresford. Further free talking pictures were screened and a flying competition for model aeroplanes was conducted. Another attractive 'programme has been arranged for to-day, which will be tho last opportunity for visitors to see the exhibition. In tho evening there will be items by the Takapuna Citizens' Band, followed by vaudeville entertainment in which pupils of Miss Beresford and Miss Kathleen Boyle and Kodama, the foot juggler, will take part. Free talking pictures will be screened and there will be a grand parade of the quaint carnival figures.

MODEL AEROPLANES FLYING COMPETITIONS The competitions conducted at the Auckland Winter Exhibition last night by the New Zealand Model Aeroplane Association resulted as follows: —Any type machine, rise ofl water: L. Marten, 81 4-os, 1; W. B. Mackley, 81s, 2; F. Marten, 375, 3. Balloon bursting: R. Urquhart, 1; G. Rosser, 2; F. Marten, 3.

N.Z. WONDER EARTH FACZ POWDER Specially interesting to lady visitors at the Auckland Winter Exhibition are the displays and fine demonstrations arranged for Zo-Glo Face Powder and Hinemoa Beauty Mud Packs, both New Zealand products. This wonder earth obtained from the crater of an extinct New Zealand volcano is claimed to be the secret preparation of Hinemoa, heroine of so manv Maori folk stories.

Used by some of the world's leading beauties, this preparation is excellent for treatment of skin blemishes and wrinkles on the face and neck. Arrangements for the continuation of free demonstrations after the close of the exhibition have been made, and from Monday till Thursday next, appointments may be made with The Sunshine Beauty Shoppe and also at the Sareta Salons.

PROGRESS AND PROTEENA FOR BREAKFAST AND GENERAL COOKERY Among the many interesting exhibits of the Auckland Winter Show that of the Proteena Milling Company has a universal message of health and strength. No home in New Zealand but has heard of " Proteena," and but few people who, having tasted the delights of " Proteena " products and tested their energy-restoring and health-giv-ing properties, do not realise why the Proteena Milling Company has rapidly risen from its small beginnings to become the Dominion's largest firm for the supply of wheaten wholemeal. Research has enabled them to produce for the people of this country Nature's ideal food for the morning plate of porridge, and for use also in general household cookery. A large and increasing number of housewives are finding that this dual-purpose " Proteena " wholemeal is giving the utmost pleasure and vitality-creating benefits to those for whom they prepare the delicious porridge, dainty " cookies " and delightful biscuits. Besides " Proteena," this famous factory produces the well-known " Laxa," which is so highly recommended by doctors as "Nature's most nourishing laxative," and which, unlike most other remedies, is as thoroughly appetising as it is efficient in its purpose. Like " Proteena," the demand for " Laxa " has grown by leaps and bounds, and this winning of Dominionwide popularity by the " Proteena " products could not have been attained unless the most hygienic purity and highest quality had been maintained. The Proteena Company were wise and fortunate, therefore, in erecting their model mills in the very heart of New Zealand's richest wheat-growing area, where the finest sun-ripened golden grain can be constantly selected for their highly specialised uses. Proteena and Laxa are on display at the Auckland Winter Show, and on sale at all grocers and stores throughout New Zealand.
