YOUNG GIRL'S WILES
CYCLE DEALERS DEFRAUDED SALE OF STOLEN MACHINES [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] HAWERA. Thursday Practically every Hawera cycle dealer is bemoaning the fact that he recently fell a victim to the wiles of a girl and paid good money for a bicycle which the vendor had no right to sell. The girl, who is about 19 years of age, went into a shop and told a story of being about to go to Wanganui and, not wishing to have the inconvenience of taking the bicycle with her on the back of her baby motorcar, she asked the dealer if he would buy the bicycle. He agreed to buy it for 12s 6d. The girl left the shop and returned a few minutes later with a bicycle. On the money being paid she departed —not for Wanganui, but to another cvclo shop. Three more dealsrs ere caught with a similar tale and with the same result. It was later discovered that all the bicycles had been stolen from the street. The girl, who has not been located, ob* tained in .all about £4.
