MINNESOTA POLICE
EIGHT OFFICERS DISMISSED SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS (Received June 25, 8.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 24 Ever since Mr. Edward Bremer's family was held up for a ransom of 200,000 dollars by kidnappers in St. Paul, Minnesota, the United States Government and the police have been quietly investigating the St. Paul police department. To-day the Chief of Police, Michael Culligan, and eight of his leading officers were dismissed. Some will be prosecuted for the alleged connection between them and gamblers in conducting a racehorse lottery on a large scale. Also there is alleged to have been an illicit connection between the police and lawyers who specialise in criminal cases and there are charges of giving warnings about intended raids.
