STUD SHEEP SALES
BRISK BIDDING IN SYDNEY PRICES BELOW LAST YEAR'S (Received June 25. 8.55 p.m.) SYDNEY. June 25 The annual stud sheep sales in Sydney to-day were marked by brisk bidding, but prices were not quite so satisfactory as la.st year. The best price in the Merino class was 600 guineas paid for a ram from the well-known Haddon Rig stud. For 495 Merino stud rams and a "selected flock of rams the sum of £14,787 was realised, the average pr.ee being £29 17s 6d. British breeds and Corriedales were in fairly good demand and 495 guineas were paid for a Corriedale from Mr. T. B. MacFarlane's Merriwa stud, which is believed to be a record price for an' Australian-bred Corriedale. Fifteen Border Leicester stud rams , sold on behalf of Mr. Donald Grant, of j Tiinaru, sold for £250 19s, an average ; of £l6 14s 6d. Five Southdown stud I ewes realised £39 7s 6d. Mr. W. 0. Rennie, of Canterbury, i New Zealand, sold one Southdown stud \ ram for £6 6s, and 30 Southdown flock j rams for £llß 2s 6d. He also sold five Southdown stud ewes for £l9 13s 9d, one Ryeland stud ram for £ls 15s, six Border Leicester stud rams for £37 16s, and 10 Border Leicester ewes for £56 14s. Mr. W. J. Jenkins, of Canterbury,'j sold 11 Southdown stud ewes for 4£ guineas each.
