SOCIAL AT TE AWAMUTU
NEW HALL OPENED A very well-attended social and dance marked the opening of the Kakepuku Public Hall after its recent building additions, comprising a supper room and dressing rooms. These had been completed by volunteer labour from the settlers of the district, and the material paid for out of social functions that had been held. The district had erected a large hall practically free of debt nine years ago, and the additions now make it one of the best appointed halls in the whole district. The opening ceremony was performed by the Mayor of Te Awamutu, Mr. Geo. Spinley, and the Mayoress, Miss Spinley, switched on the electric light in the new portion of the building. During the evening, Mr. W. J. Melville, chairman of the hall committee, was made a presentation, in recognition of his leadership and enthusiastic work for the community.
