MILITARY BALL HELD SUCCESSFUL EVENING Recognised !1S tho iiuist brilliant function of t-lie season, the military ball, hold in the Frankton Town Hall on Thursday night, again attracted a very largo attendance, including many visitors from all parts of the province. In keeping with tho occasion Hags took prominence in a brilliant decorative scheme carried out in the spacious dancing hall, on the stage, and in a marquee which- opened from the hall. Tho stage, which was transformed into a lounge, had been (Pecked with bowls of poinsettias, camellias, gladioli, japonica and nandena, concealed among which were machineguns, drums and other military equipment. Ln the supper, room a delicious supper was laid on tables charmingly arranged with vases of Iceland poppies, poinsettias, camellias and fuchsia. Colonel Sir Stephen Allen and Ladv Allen, Morrinsville, acted as host and hostess. Lady Allen wore a charming frock of silver lame with apple green velvet sash, and curried a bouquet of gold and yellow flowers. .Members of the executive present were:—Mrs. R. 13. Cranwcll, who wore a frock of black crepe-de-chino studded with diamante; Mrs. R. D. McFarland, in moss green sparkling crepe suede; Mrs. A. E. Gibbons, silver lame and scarlet net and organdie; Mrs. J. A. M". Clachan, black lace; Mrs. T. G. Reynolds, pale green ripple satin; Mrs. E. C. Brewis, beige and yellow ligured spun silk: Mrs. C. L. MacDiarmid, black lace, with draped velvet neckline; Mrs. E. M. Chainey, pale blue crepe suede, silver trimmings; Mrs. Lance Tompkins, Burgundy satin; Mrs. A. S. McKenzie, apple green moire taffeta; Mrs. T. A. Milroy, beige lace; Miss C. Chitty, black velvet and silver lame; Miss J. Milroy, black tulip taffeta.

There were two debutantes: —Miss J. Paterson (Ngaruawahia), in silver lame, and Miss I). Tuck /(Ngaruawahia), white georgette and crystal. Each carried a posy of {towers. Others present were:—Mrs. 0.
