MONEY BY FRAUD
FIVE CHARGES ADMITTED YOUNG MAN iMPRISONED [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] INVERCARGILL, Friday Five charges of obtaining money by false pretences were preferred against Ronald Beverly Shaw, aged 21, farm labourer, of Tuatapere, in the Police Court to-day. Accused, who was described as a native of Melbourne, pleaded guilty. It was stated that accused obtained £lB and £9 by stating that he had been fined £BS for sly grog selling, and that he wanted the money to help to pay the fine. In another case he falsely represented that he had bought a bush section, and obtained £5 from his employer, from whom he also received a further £5 after stating that he had damaged his uncle's Car. He also obtained £2 5s from his employer by falsely representing that he was taking action against an Invercargill firm. Accused was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on each of two charges and on the others he was convicted and discharged.
