MAORIS' RIGHTS
Whether or not the proposed drainage of Lake Forsyth, Canterbury, will interfere with their fishing and their food supply is a question which is disturbing the minds of some of the Little River Maoris. A deputation of Maoris waited on the Wairewa County Council recently and protested against the drainage of the lake. They claimed that it would ruin their food supply, which was guaranteed by the Treaty of Waitangi.
