BRITAIN'S QUEEN
SIXTY-EIGHTH BIRTHDAY QUIET CELEBRATION ; (Received May 26, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON. May 26 Queen Mary was 68 years old to-day. She spent her birthday quietly. There was a small Royal luncheon party in Buckingham Palace.
WARM GREETINGS NEW ZEALAND'S MESSAGE On the occasion of the 68th birthday of Queen Mary the following congratulatory message was sent to Her Majesty by the Governor-General, Viscount Gahvav: — The Government and people of New Zealand, with whom my wife and I desire to associate ourselves, respectfully tender to Your Majesty warm congratulations and good wishes on the occasion of Your Majesty's birthday. Galway. The following message from Buckingham Palace, London, addressed to the Governor-General, Auckland, was received last night by Viscount Galway:— My grateful thanks to you both, and Government and people of New Zealand, far kind birthday message. (Signed) Mary R. The warships at the Devonport Naval Base were dressed for the occasion yesterday. The Royal Salute of 21 guns was not fired owing to the day being a Sunday, but this ceremony will take place at noon to-day.
