WAIKATO APPLICATIONS MANY RENEWALS GRANTED [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday Applications for renewals of motor service, licences in the Waikato district were considered by the No. 2 Licensing Authority at Hamilton to-day. Mr. J. A. C. A Hum presided. The majority of the applications were granted without opposition. Decision was reserved in connection with the application by Edwards Motors, Limited, for a service between Matamata and Hamilton. Buses, Limited, Hamilton, and the Railway Department lodged objections on the grounds that their services would be affected. The application of W. T. Asplin, of Rukuhia, for a service within 10 miles of Hamilton was granted on condition that he did not ply for hire in Hamilton. ■ Further information was sought by the Authority with respect to the application of F. I. V. Irvine, of Oparau, for a 12-mile route licence, it was contended by objectors that the proposed service was not necessary. Decision was also reserved in connection with the request of T. Slater, of Morrinsville, for a goods service licence ,within 12 miles of Tahuna. The application was opposed on the grounds that the district was already adequately served.
