REPORTED INVESTIGATION RACING CLUB'S STATEMENT » '' [BY TELKORAFII —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Thursday Wellington Racing (#ub officials were astonished to read to-day the cable message from Sydney regarding an interview with Mr. J. A. Kelly, who was stated to be studying totalisator methods at Randwick. " Mr. Kelly has no authority from the Wellington Racing Club to make any investigations on its behalf," states Miss D. E. Bray, secretary of the club, " nor to make any statements which might be construed as being the opinion of thri^club." The message from Sydney states that Mr. J. A. Kelly, of tho Wellington Racing Club, New Zealand, was studying totalisator methods at Randwick in order to ascertain whether there are any improvements which eould bo applied in Wellington. Mr. Kelly told an interviewer that ho though it quite likely that bookmakers would make their appearance on New Zealand courses shortly, as several clubs favoured .the idea, Mr. Kelly added that racing in the Dominion was in such a state that at least 100 horses would bo sent to Australia, for the spring compnigns in New South Wfiles and v ictoria.
