SHINGLE BARGE SINKS

A barge which was being towed from Sandspit Island to Auckland on Thursday afternoon, sank near Maraetai. The barge, which was loaded with about 50 yards of shingle, is chartered from .J. j. Craig, Limited. Arrangements are being made to raise the barge, but a considerable quantity of the load has been lost.
