THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL
FAREWELL PRESENTATION METROPOLITAN BODIES COMBINE The farewell and presentation to be given to the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, in Auckland on March 6, on the occasion of their last visit to thtt city prior to leaving for England, will take the form of a metropolitan function, all the Auek-' land suburban local bodies having agreed to co-operate with the Auckland City Council in puking the farewell fully representative of the wider area.' The function will tike place in the Auckland Toivn Hall in the evening ' while a farewell to Lady Bledisloe will be held in the afternoon.
The ceremony was originally arranged by the City Council and it was decided to" present an illuminated address to Lord Bledisloe. This is now being prepared but in the text the appreciation of the people of the whole of the metropolitan area will be expressed for the services rendered to the community by / Their Excellencies. The address wiil Be-, handsomely illuminated and will contain water-colour sketches of scenes of beauty and historic interest in and about Auckland. A casket in the form of a Maori pataka, built up of inlaid New Zealand woods and richly carved, is being made to hold the address. = A presentation, to Lady Bledisloe will be made in the afternoon by the Mayoress, Mrs. G. W. Hutchison,- oa- behalf of the women of Auckland. ' ■
