SLEEPING UNDER HOUSE

PRACTICE FOR TWO YEARS

LABOURER SENT TO PRISON

"I will take into consideration the fact that you have been behaving yourself during the past year," said Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday, in convicting James Orben Graves, aged 56, labourer, who was charged with being an incorrigible rogue in that he had insufficient lawful means of support. The prosecution was conducted by Inspector Edwards. Evidence was given that accused, who had been unemployed for the past two years, had been found sleeping underneath a five-roomed house in Federal Street early yesterday morning. He had admitted sleeping in the same place for two years, having been given permission by a previous tenant to do so, he had stated. Accused also said he had lived by "picking up a bob or two."

Accused, who had a list of previous convictions for various offences, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
