NO ABUSE OF AMENDMENTS STATEMENT BY MR. FORBES [BY TF.LEC.IIArH; —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DTJNEDIN, Thursday If it-were found that employers were using the amendments to the Arbitration Act for the purposes of sweating and unfair conditions the legislation would bo reviewed, stated the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, in answering a Trades and Labour Council deputation, which pressed for the restoration of the Court's powers. Mr. Forbes said he had accepted the employers' statement that the alterations woftld allow greater flexibility in business, and would tide them over the difficult times. If, however, it were proved that they were using the amendments for purposes of sweating and unfair competition, the whole matter would be reviewed, but w ho required more than general statements.
