EXHIBITIONS ON LOAN COUNCIL APPROVES PLAN Proposals by the Empire Art Loan Collections Society for sending several small " interim " collections " 011 tour among New Zealand and Australian art galleries were laid before the City Council last night. The following are the respective dates and particulars of the collections: — Juno, 1935: 50 to 60 from the Contemporary Art Society. November, 1935: 120 to 150 prints and drawings from the Contemporary Art Society. Beginning of 1936: 142 drawings by famous Punch artists. Approximately 1936: 53 works by Dutch and Flemish old masters. Date not stated: 50 water-colours from the circulating collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. 1942: Hebert Powell collection of 131 British water-colours and drawings dating from 1750 onward. The cost of, the exhibitions to the council, exclusive of local and pooled expenses, it was stated, would be between £ll and £23 each if eight gallories participated and between £2l and £45 each if four participated. The library committee recommended that the council co-operate in the scheme on condition that at least four other galleries came in. The recommendation was adopted.
