MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
THE CITIZENS' COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES COMMENCED The Auckland Citizens' Committee has been reformed under the chairmanship of Mr. Edward Anderson. Several executive meetings have been hold, at which it was decided to extend the activities of the committee and scope of its membership. Invitations have been sent to a largo number of business, professional and social clubs and organisations to nominate members with a view to making the committee what it claims to be, a non-party organisation. A large number of organisations, such as tho Chamber of Commerce, senior and junior divisions, tho lvarangahape Road Business Promotion Society, tho Auckland Provincial Employers' Association, the Manufacturers' Association, and tho Remuera Ratepayers' Association, have already responded by nominating members. Early in the new year tho general committee, which will be truly representative of the city ratepayers, business and professional activities, will be called together for the purpose of formulating a policy for the election of candidates for the City Council, Harbour Board, Auckland Electric-Power Board and other city activities. In tho meantime the preliminary work of forming local committees is being proceeded with. In a statement issued yesterday tho committee says citizens can rest assured that the. all-important work of carrying out a campaign of an educational nature on the duty of tho citizen to vote when ctUled upon to do so is being given really serious attention, that Auckland lias a bad reputation in this connection, and that one of the major aims of the committee is to draw attention to this all-important duty.
