BROADCASTING BOARD
MEMBERS' TERMS* EXPIRING QUESTION OF REAPPOINTMENT The current threo-year terms of two members of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, Mr. G. 11. Hutchinson, of Auckland, and Mr. L. R. C. Macfarlane, of Canterbury, will expire on Tuesday. The Broadcasting Act states that one of theso members is to hold office for not more than four years, but the appointments of both are so far only for three years. It is provided that subsequent appointments in both cases are not to exceed three years. The third member of the board, Mr. H. D. Vickery, chairman, holds office for five years, so that his term has still two years to run. No announcement has yet been made as to whether the two retiring members will be reappointed. In view of the extensive development programme embarked upon bv the present board, this would appear to be a likely course.
