LENA GOLDFIELDS

OFFER NOT ACCEPTED BRITISH NOTEHOLDERS ■ (Receivted December 12, 6.20 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 11 At a meeting of Lena Goldfields noteholders, acceptance of the Soviet offer of £3,000,000, to be paid over 20 years, failed to secure the requisite threequarters majority. The voting was 315 to 110 in favour. The divergence of opinion seemed chiefly to concern the manner of dividing the payment bet, ween noteholders and shareholders. Mr. Guedella Gwynn. strongly recommended acceptance, expressing the opinion that if th<s present offer were rejected they would not receive a penny from the Soviet and it was doubtful if the British Government would again intercede on their behalf.

The next stage depends on the shareholders' meeting on Friday.
