BYRD EXPEDITION
RETURN INTENDED LEAVING IN JANUARY INTERCEPTION OF MESSAGE (Received December 12, 8.10 p.m.) MONTREAL, Dec. 12 A message from Schenectady states that the General Electric Company's radio station intercepted a message from Little America, Rear-Admiral Byrd's base in the Antarctic, declaring that the expedition would leave the camp late in January and return to the United States, via Dunedin. No reason was given for the termination of the expedition, which was originally scheduled to require two years.
