Thursday The final gallops at Trentham this morning were interfered with by very heavy rain which set in just before work was due to commence and continued for several hours. The centre of the course gradually became a series of small ponds, and after a few early comers had galloped on the trial grass, which was opened for the first time in six months, this track was closed, and the rest of the work was done on the inner grass. The weather in the afternoon was fine. Paliu and Red Sun were the first to work and the former easily beat his mate over a mile in 1.51, each half taking 55}s. Orby s Last wns easing up to finish several lengths clear of Bay Area over six furlongs in 1.24, the last half-mile taking 5745. Purse ran six furlongs in 1.22, being picked up at the half-mile post by Night Lass, who beat her home by five or six lengths, after covering her portion in 52is. Arctic King, carrying a big weight, ran six furlongs in 1.24. the last half-mile in 5555. On the inner grasß Autopay did a round the reverse way at a strong three-quarter pace. Slippery worked steadily over a round, and Gold Trail, Sir Nigel. Aesculus and Haut Monde also did useful tasks. Flamingo was nearly two lengths in front of Dawn Princess after running six furlongs in 1.19, the last half-mile in 53!5. Cawbeen ran six furlongs alone in 1.18, the last halfmile in 535. Synagogue was not bustled to run half a mile in 5315. Might easily accounted for Chile and Brambletom over seven furlongs in 1.33, tbo last half-mile in 53jS.
