The discoverers are the French scientist Dr. Joliot and bis wife. They ■will announce the detail!, to an international conference o*f 300 scientists to be held in London early in October, states the News Chronicle. Madame Joliot, who is a daughter of the late Madame Curie, is equally responsible with her husbai.d for the discovery. There is no reason to anticipate any hitch in its development, thus allowing cancer victims to obtain the necessary quantities of ri dium cheaply. The scientists' conference is the most important physics gathering ever held in Britain. The News Chronicle rev ;als that other discoveries it will discusi include artificial rock salt, which, being 20 times stronger than the natural, product, .may lead to the production of similarly strengthened aluminium and other metals and alloys, revolutionising the manufacture of aircraft,
