Oct 1 Miss Gloria Minoprio :is the first woman golfer to win a championship round using only one club. Her first endeavour to do so last year created a sensation on the links and this year, iising a club which was something between a cleek and a No. 1 iron, she defeated Miss Betty Somemlle 2 and 1 in the English women's championship at Skegness. Miss Minoprio's opponent used a full set of clubs. The winner frequently outdrove Miss SomerviUe and putted accurately. A large gallery followed; the players, attracted as much by Miiss(sMinoprio's costume as by her play. She wore tightfitting smartly creased Iblue trousers strapped beneath blue stnede shoes, a white jumper, gloves and a blue beret.
