COMMERCIAL DEBTS
GERMANY TO BRITAIN SETTLEMENT WANTED (Received September 19. 7.15 p.m.) British Wireless RTJOBY, Sept. 18 An emergency meeting of the tariffs and commercial treaties committee of the Federation of British Industries, which was fully attended by representatives of the leading trades, of the country, unanimously passed the following resolution, which was forwarded to the President of the Board of Trade, Mr. Walter Runciman:— That the Government be requested immediately to take the strongest possible action to secure a settlement of the outstanding commercial debts owing by German nationals and to provide for methods which will ensure payment for current and future trade with Germany; and, further, to negotiate with Germany as to future trade, so that in any control or licence system the position of British exporters will not be prejudiced.
